Working for Somerset County Council Verde Recreo have constructed a new multi sports facility incorporating 2 MUGAS, a sand filled ATP, a polymeric sprint straight and 4 macadam tennis courts.
Verde Recreo were employed by Somerset County Council to construct a new sports facility for the use of West Somerset Community College and the wider community. The new facilities incorporate 2 acrylic coated macadam MUGAS designed primarily for football and basketball; a full size, multi use, sand filled artificial turf pitch with a polymeric trim trail surround; a polymeric sprint straight and long jumps and a block of 4 acylic coated macadam tennis courts.
All the facilities have a twinbar perimeter fence, with a 1.2m rebound panel included around the MUGAs and ATP. A floodlighting system was also installed allowing the facilities to be lit either individually or in combination.
Our first week on site. Despite inclement weather we have kerbed the MUGAS, imported the stone and trimmed using the laser dozer. The MUGAS are now ready for the porous macadam surfacing.
A busy week. We have installed the roots for the floodlighting system as well as all the cabling. The majority of the kerbs have been laid around the ATP, and the tarmacing has started on the MUGA
We lost 2 days to the snow this week, but were still able to carry on with the kerbing to the ATP and put the luminaires on the floodlights
The site has thawed out this week, and we have pushed ahead, getting the stone to the ATP and athletics track trimmed and ready for tarmacing. All the floodlights are up and wired and we took delivery of the sand for the long jump pits.
We've been laying the bitmac to the ATP and sprint straight this week, making the best of the good weather. The fencing materials were delivered to site and we began fencing the MUGA.
The bitmac to the ATP and sprint straight was completed and straight edged this week. We installed the spectator fence to the ATP in preparation for the shock pad to be laid next week.
We laid the shock pad to the ATP this week, along with the pad for the athletics facility. The fence to the MUGA is almost complete.
The weather has been kind to us this week. We had 2 days with low winds and so have been able to complete the spray coat to the athletics facility. We can now push on with the carpet laying next week.
The carpet was delivered on Tuesday and we started rolling them out on Wednesday. The carpet team will be working over the weekend and will have the pitch green by Sunday.
The carpet team have been sanding up this week, and completed the infill this week. The fence to the ATP is progressing well.
The sand infill to the artificial carpet has been completed this week, thanks to the dry weather. The fencing team have been pushing on with the ATP fence and are nearing completion.
The natural pitches are taking shape. The topsoil has been spread and prepped for seeding. Work is ongoing on the cricket wicket with the clay loam being graded and compacted.
The goal equipment for the ATP has been delivered and assembled this week, the hand over date is fast approaching.
The acrylic spray coat to the MUGAs has been completed, which is the icing on the cake. The access works to the ATP and MUGA's is underway and we will be ready for handover next week.
