Verde Recreo have commenced work at Filton High School. The school is being entirely re-built and we have been asked to provide a 77m x 37m porous macadam MUGA, for tennis, netball and basketball use.
Bam construction, the main contractor at the Filton High School, have awarded Verde Recreo the contract to design and build a new macadam MUGA. This is Phase 1 of the contract, Phase 2 is a full sized sand filled ATP which will commence after the demolition of the old school.
The MUGA will be enclosed with a 3m high twinbar fence and will provide a block of 4 combined tennis / netball and basketball courts. The courts will be individually floodlit. Work commenced on the 7th December 2009
A wet and muddy field was the starting point. We scraped off the slop, filled in the low spots and had started the drainage by the end of the week.
A busy week. We completed the drainage and installed the infra structure for the floodlighting system. We were then able to complete the reduced dig to the formation and import the initial stone blanket, meaning the end of the mud. Happy Christmas.
We returned to site, completed the stone blanket and began preparing the kerb races. Then the snow came and covered the site with 4 inches, causing a temporary site closure.
A near total white out this week. The snow finally melted on Friday, but it was still too cold to lay kerbs.
Back on site at last. We laid the kerbs to the pitch perimeter and the laser dozer trimmed the stone blanket up, ready for surfacing.
The fencers started on site this week installing the posts. The tarmac gang followed straight after and commenced laying the binder course macadam.
The surface course macadam was completed this week, the consultant straight edged the court and it was all in tolerance. The fencers returned to site and completed the cladding to the fence.
