We are working again with Bam Construction at Filton High School. The old school buildings have been demolished and we will be constructing a 102m x 65m artificial grass pitch.
We have begun work on the second phase of our contract with Bam Construction at Filton High School in Bristol. Our work comprises of the consruction of a 102m x 65m, sand filled, artificial grass pitch. This type of surface is perfect for schools as it offers good performance characteristics for hockey, football and tennis amongst others.
We shall be installing a sub-pitch drainage system with flow control which will provide enough storage capacity to cope with extreme storm events. The pitch will be constructed on a tarmac base with a 15mm rubber shock pad and enclosed with a 358 panel fence. Floodlighting will be to 350 Lux.
The contract will be completed in 12 weeks
The first week has be spent preparing the formation. The old school is being crushed and used to make up the levels for the new pitch.
We started importing the stone sub-base this week and laid the concrete edging kerbs to the pitch perimeter.
The floodlights have been put up and comissioned. We also finished the footopaths and started the final trim to the stone sub-base.
The fencers were on site this week. They began by installing the posts for the spectator fence. The stone sub-base is complete, ready for tarmacing.
Despite the rain, we managed to lay the 15mm thick shock pad layer this week. Having the lights working helped!
The carpet arrived on site on Tuesday. The majority had been rolled into position by Friday. However the cold weather at the end of the week has prevented us from glueing up the seams.
The freezing temperatures have halted the carpet laying because the adhesives used won't cure. We have managed to keep going with the fencing though.
We have managed to resume glueing the carpet together this week and have started cutting in and glueing the line marking.
